When I am in B.A I have no any idea about what is literature but now I almost finish my M.A I can say that what literature ? And how literature shaped me?

1) what is Literature ?

Some say "Literature is Mirror to society" and Some say Literature - mirror - photograph - X-ray image - axe to break frozen self. Some say literature is coconut ,some say Literature is onion, some say literature is sea. According to me literature is  "Food" and  "Hammer" .

Literature shape me.

I heard in childhood , "Eating nuts brings intelligence". After that I heard in school "wisdom come from stumbling" and Right now in M.A with English Finley I find about how does I will become smart and I can take own decision . By Literature. Before I don't know what is literature but I touch with always literature. I used literature.

But I don't know about literature

Before how useful literature to me

So let's see how literature use me 1)

# Literature shape

When I read  " One night @ the call center" by Chetan bhagat.  So I Will  give  shape my life. Example Radhika characters. Last Radhika takes  to decision of divorce and get rid of torture to mother in law. So if will face to this situation so easily and suddenly I will take decision of divorce and to be free of mother in law  situation. I will not waste my time for emotion and weep, so I will get good job and I will do. Chetan bhagat write about youth genratatio. And give importance of youth genratatio. Millty uncle is old genratatio so  mltry uncle uncle don't like youth clture so Chetan bhagat give importance of youth genratatio not old. I like read of  Chetan bhagat all books.

1) Feminist Reading in Harry Potter.

There are so many female characters in the series which are different from each other. Like some are strong, some are soft, girlish ,fearful etc.mk

1)Hermione Granger

She is very smart and bravely girl. She  is protogonist character. She spot her friends Harry potter and Ron. She clever girl. She have more knowledge of history. she love of reading and animals. she gives all questions of answers. she spot her friends by history knowledge. she loves of Ron. when Ron attracted other girls so Hermione very feel jvelous. 

2) Ginny Weasley

she is not center character but she is love of Harry. she attracted with other boy. she is Ron sister. she belongs Wesley family.

Ginny is one of the characters that experiences the most development from book one to book seven. In Sorcerer’s Stone, she is very taken with Harry and is very shy. This carries on to Chamber of Secrets, when she first goes to Hogwarts. Each time we see her, she seems to be alone, and doesn’t associate herself with many people other than her brothers. By the end of the series, Ginny is a major character and leader. She goes through a few boyfriends, and it is apparent that she has overcome her shyness and is not obsessing over Harry.

Minerva McGonagall

As head of Gryffindor house, Minerva McGonagall is one of Harry’s strictest professors at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She’s scary and stern but always fair, even when it comes to taking points away from her own house. When push comes to shove, however, McGonagall is one of the most loving and compassionate characters in the series and when it comes to the war against Voldemort's, she’s one of the most powerful and badass witches protecting Hogwarts and its students.

2)Discourse on the purity of blood and Harry potter

Pure blood, Half blood and Mud blood, these are the terms which are used in the Harry Potter books. These terms are to discriminate people, and also to show power of related to blood. Every where there is concept of superior and inferior, the base might differ. Here the base is blood. People in Harry Potter series used to think that those who have belongingness to pure blood family, have more talent and those who doesn’t belongs don’t have talent. But here making hero Half blood and Hermione, Mud blood, J. K. Rowling is showing very clearly her stance. So it proves that talent can not be inherited, it should be acquired. Secondly pure blood don’t give certificate of goodness in person. We can clearly see that Malfoys who belongs to Pure blood family are in the favour of Voldemort and Harry who is Half blood and Hermione who is Mud blood they are fighting against the evil. So everything does not come with blood.

 3) Confronting reality by reading fantasy:

Harry Potter series not only to entertain but to provide readers with a real-world moral framework that explicitly encompasses race-related issues. Fantasy story could be the reality of our own world. In this series, we can find author tells many problems like Educations systems ( Practical vs Theory), Politics, Master-slave relations, Racial, caste and class problems ( Blood issues) etc, in the terms of fantasy.

4) Self-help culture and Harry Potter:

Harry Potter is not only a Children literature it is packed with interesting ideas and insights. Harry's journey from childhood to his Young age teach us various important or life long messages. When I watched Harry Potter series as Academic activity I found it more helpful to build confidence, to get rid from fear and fight for ultimate truth or justice. Harry is gifted one though he fight for prove himself. It shows his real heroism. Thus, Harry is moderate person not believe that all done by him and Heroism comes with Modesty not with I, Me and Myself.

5)The discourse of power and politics

Harry Potter' is popular. But where is the politics? At the most explicit levels Rowling provides the readers with a outline of a political system: the ministry of magic. This parallel political system is kept secret from the ―non-magic people the ―Muggle. Harry
Potter presents at multiple levels the different manifestations of power. There is the struggle between power and ethics showed through the war between the death eaters and the Wizading community. There are other structures of power like the headmaster Dumbledore and professorslike Snape, Umbridge enforcing disciplinary methods like detention and other punishments.
In his ―History of Sexuality Foucault approaches the concept of power in this manner:
“ power is everywhere, not because it embraces everything but because it comes from everywhere. And power insofar is repetitious, inert and self-reproducing…power is not an institution, not a structure; neither is it a certain strength we are endowed with it; it is the name of a complex strategical situation in a particular society .

All say It is children literature But it is not true because harry potter not only represent children Literature but Harry potter series represent politics, power and power of journalism  . We can see in present time politic power and power of journalism.  J.K.Rowling represent to present time . Now religion is big  problem.

1) Brown street on his website that his books are not anti-Christian, though he is on a 'constant spiritual journey' himself, and says that his book The Da Vinci Code is simply "an entertaining story that promotes spiritual discussion and debate" and suggests that the book may be used "as a positive catalyst for introspection and exploration of our faith."

Ans :My be it is truth. Because Brown say something Christian follow of darkness so He represent about Cristina religion rules. It is truth all myth is not truth . It is imagination of Chris. So brown say something Truth about Christian myth is not truth. But imagination.

2)Although it is obvious that much of what Brown presented in his novel as absolutely true and accurate is neither of those, some of that material is of course essential to the intrigue, and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman has retained the novel's core, the Grail-related material: the sacred feminine, Mary Magdalene's marriage, the Priory of Sion, certain aspects of Leonardo's art, and so on[1].” How far do you agree with this observation of Norris J. Lacy?

Ans:  I think Christianity  worship of  patriarchal  like as another religion. So Christian follow of patriarchy. And Christianity believe about mam superior to women.  woman has home that only has power to give a life in this universe that's why the sacred feminine is more powerful than. Christianity also believe in patriarchy so there is a doubtful on Shepherd feminine just because sometime we believe that purity come with the man but we forget that woman has home that only has power to give a life in this universe that's why the sacred feminine is more powerful than other.

3)@ (If)You have studied ‘Genesis’ (The Bible), ‘The Paradise Lost’ (John Milton) and ‘The Da Vinci Code’ (Dan Brown). Which of the narrative/s seem/s to be truthful? Whose narrative is convincing to the contemporary young mind?

Ans:     the  paradise lost by John Milton . It is not Truth but narrative is convincing to the contemporary young mind. Example  Eve and Adam is good cupals but wife convince of Adam eat apple .it is present example. And satan is villain so I think narrative is convincing to the contemporary young mind. But
All are myth and imagination of Christian.

4) What harm has been done to humanity by the biblical narration or that of Milton’s in The Paradise Lose? What sort of damage does narrative like ‘The Vinci Code’ do to humanity?

Ans: In Many ways ‘The Da Vinci Code’ breaks human faith with showing history of Christianity. Though it tries to show feminine sacredness somehow it also harms women with objectifying them. Bible bounds religion or people through religion. It also makes man to God. But the most harmful thing is it attacks female as unworthy and reason for downfall of human kind. Paradise Lost tries to show logically with giving Eve some space. But it also decreases women.


5)What difference do you see in the portrayal of 'Ophelia' (Kate Winslet) in Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet, 'Elizabeth' (Helena Bonham Carter) in Kenneth Branagh's Mary Shelley's Frankenstein or 'Hester Prynne' (Demi Moore) in Roland Joffé's The Scarlet Letter' or David Yates's 'Harmione Granger' (Emma Watson) in last four Harry Potter films - and 'Sophie Neuve' (Audrey Tautau) in Ron Howard's The Da Vinci Code? How would justify your answer?

Ans :- If we do feministic reading of these women then all have their own perspective according to their personality. In Scarlet letter, Hester Prynne was very beautiful,smart and independent women. It shows Hester's Independence and individual bravery but not showing intelligence. She has to give up infront of the society,as only because she is a women? Then in Hamlet, Ophelia is a beautiful women ,but there is nothing important or value of women in play , because of so and so reason she has to die, so what's about her role in play?Then next Elizabeth in Frankenstein was Beautiful, Innocent and weak character. She is loneness girl because narration is not good and they have complaisantly. They can have helpless character in Mary shelly novel. Further Hermione Granger,in some level she is potraying as intelligent character,she is using knowledge through books and using power. On soem extent she is more important or smarter character.At last, Sophie Neveu in "The Da Vinci code" is a super female leading character at some extent. It showing her beauty with brain as a cryptologist.

6)Do novel / film lead us into critical (deconstructive) thinking about your religion? Can we think of such conspiracy theory about Hindu religious symbols / myths?

And: yes of course Hindu religion use OM symbols like as Christian religion symbols. So we can find OM . It is story myth and imagination of people. It is not true story. And Muslim use 786 symbols it is imagination not tru store all religion use symbols.

7)How you come across any similar book/movie, which tries to deconstruct accepted notions about Hindu religion or culture and by dismantling it, attempts to reconstruct another possible interpretation of truth?

Ans :Yes , I came across many Some kind of movie because with book we don't have touch. As we raised with Hindi Bollywood cinmea there are some movie which creates notion about Indian culture and there is possibility of reconstruct the truth of religion. Here I can't recommend the particular name of the movie because I can't remember, but surely I can say I have seen.

8)When we do traditional reading of the novel ‘The Da Vinci Code’, Robert Langdon, Professor of Religious Symbology, Harvard University emerges as protagonist and Sir Leigh Teabing, a British Historian as antagonist. Who will claim the position of protagonist if we do atheist reading of the novel?

Ans : when we do traditional Reading of the novel ' The Da Vinci code' , then as per my understanding I think sir Leigh Teabing should be protagonist, because he was a British historian. He has history,past , he is well aware about religion and myth, whatever he is doing, he has a motive to cure people, to make people free from religion and it's faith. He is not doing for money or for itself but there was Humanity in center of his work. So, dependent on this perameters there should Sir Leigh Teabing as a protagonist character.

9)xplain Ann Gray’s three propositions on ‘knowability’ with illustrations from the novel ‘The Da Vinci Code’.

Ans :Sir Leigh Teabing and Robert Langdon both are in quest of knowing Holy grail.
• identifying and acknowledging the relationship of the knower and the known.
• Identifying what is knowable? As Sir Leigh Teabing known the greed of Aringarosa.

1. About : Author

He was born on 9 February 1940.John Maxwell Coetzee is a South African. He was novelists e, linguist, translator and recipient of the 2003 Nobel Prize in Literature.Coetzee's firstn novel was Dusklands (1974) and he has continued to produce novels at the rate of about one every three years. He has also written autobiographical novels, such as Boyhood, Youth and Summertime, short fiction, translations from Dutch and Afrikaans, and numerous essays and works of criticism.

Plot- summary

The book opens with colonel joll and he comes with instructions that the Barbarians are coming. There is Magistrate who is leading character of the novel.The novel written between Irish movement and it is a post colonial text.Joll who want to control the Barbarians and he fights with magistrate many time.The magistrate does not buy the theory of a barbarian threat. He has been living in peace in his outpost for most of life, trading with the nomads who Joll sees as the enemy.The magistrate raise his voice and helps to poor people from colonel joll . At the end he had to pay and given punishment for his mistake.In between he has sexual relations with unnamed black girl.The ending of
the novel is open. We can interpret it our own.

Characters

1] The magistrate:-If we talk about The magistrate then we can see he is good and kind by heart and portrayed as a humble character. He goes against Empire and helps to tribal people yet he get punishment for it.Moroever we have a question that why he helps these people? Why he goes against Empire? Was there behind any selfish motive of him? Why he accepts a black girl. Was there only temptation of sexual desire or anything else? In a way, it is a open ended novel so we can put out many perspective.

2] Colonel joll:- So ,the Colonel joll is a officer of "Third Bureau" and The Empire. His character drawn as very cruel and without heart.He want to control Barbarians and want some kind of power for that he does many things , he torturers many people . Whether we have to judge this character as a good or bas because maybe he is doing by his duty or he doing by his own motive we can't say. So, he proved as a very strong and villian character.

3] A black girl:- A blind girl , whose father has been killed in front of her. She given space or place in a room where she cured. If we do feministic reading then it is normal that in all case if women is in trouble,there should be one hero who cures her and they have relation between them . Is it here also? The sympathy which he get she he to pay for it in form of sexual relations or what ? Was magistrate accept her by his heart.In real society this kind of magic never happened.

Central theme

Imperialism

One of the most prominent themes in waiting for the barbarians  imperialism. In the novel we see various dimensions of imperialist mentality and actions unveiled. The paranoia of the Empire reflects a more general existential condition of one group intending to impose its culture and political mandate on others. The creation of an enemy, or "other"—the nomad "barbarian"—reflects broader perceptions of a threat that serve to justify imperialist violence. The Empire's anxious need to constantly glorify itself sheds light on more universal narratives of imperialist magnificence and righteousness that again serve as justification of a mandate of power.
Colonialism

Distinct from imperialism, the theme of colonialism as a physical, territorial project with far-reaching implications plays out in Waiting for the Barbarians. The colonial process, as illustrated in the novel, is more than just a cultural or ideological 'imperialist' project; it is a violent physical one that plays out on the earth and on the bodies of the colonized. As it is represented in Waiting for the Barbarians, the experience of colonization impacts the many lives. We see the damage done to the tribal nomads, both in terms of the torture, trauma and violence inflicted on them as well as on the intrusion upon their migrant lifestyle. We also see the impact of colonialism on the earth, as the riverbanks burn, desertification sets in, the fisher people are uprooted and the fields are flooded. Colonialism, as it is shown in Waiting for the Barbarians, entails profound violence and disruption.
Male sexuality

One of the central themes in Waiting for the Barbarians is male sexuality. Along with being a story of colonial power and imperialism, the novel is an extended examination of the magistrate's sexuality and of the nature of male sexuality in general. In the case of the magistrate, sexuality is a socialized condition, closely linked to self-perception. In the times when he has power, his sexuality thrives. As his power wanes, so too does his libido. As existential questions begin to haunt him, his desire is similarly troubled. When he goes out on a long trek, stepping out of his society, he is the least inhibited. The barbarian girl's sexuality remains a mystery for the most part. It is the (distinctly male) sexuality of the magistrate that the novel most closely examines.

Aravind Adiga is an Indo-Australian writer and journalist. His debut novel, The White Tiger, won the 2008 Man Booker Prize.What does writer by saying that somethings are better said in English language?

1) All  do not Know better English Lagrange so Better said in English language . We write freely and truth in English. While we write about religion and politic in Gujarati so many people conflict with us. But we write in English so many people do not know  perfectly English so we write freely , better and truth.     

2 )Howfar do you agree with the India represented in the novel The White Tiger?

Yes of course I agree India presented in the novel The white tiger. I agree about curation, Religion and tradition marrieds.and many situation.While many situation present by Balram Halvai character of white tiger novel. Vikram Hallway gave to importance of education. He want to study of him son. so I See many Parents want to their children get to education.So I agree novel present situation of India. While Curation,Education, Religion, And Tradition, class conflict,job situation,  But many people belong to nonviolence in India.

3)Do you believe that Balram's story is the archetype of all stories of 'rags to riches'?

Yes, I believe that Balram's story is the archetypal of all stories of 'rags to riches' because Balram is an ordinary and driver. He want to become rich for that he has done alot of work hard. He observed everything and makes plan and then atlast he succeeded. We have numerous examples of big person who have succeed because of their hard work not because of their luck.

4 )Whatblog on similarities between The White Tiger and Slumdog Millionaire. Include following points:

•  Narrative structure - Wanted Poster # KBC show

 Both have same narrative structure but aim are different.  while KBC show  in Jamal ween in KBC show . So he become hero. Jamal ween in KBC  because of He struggle with situation. and Balram character different because He became hero by wanted poster. Balram want become rich and he accept  short cut style. but Jamal Face all situation next he become rich. Both accept different style. Jamal character good but Balram character not good. I think Jamal is good narrator but Balram narrator is accept Wrong dissension.Both want to become rich but both are different.

When Balram  use wrong style become rich. One people ask about wanted poster of Balram so Balram give to answer wrong he say about I keep terrorist so one man believe about balram is hero so that is wrong. and Jamal ween in KBC because He passed in all situation.

• Indianness

We can see in novel and movie represent of indianness. While Purity, hard work, struggle, politics, religion ext. And movie represent of Dirty place of India. when Jamal is guide the tourist at that time ,her brother and his friends stolen the car and it's thing,there the director has vanished or try to make more beautiful other citizens rather than India. They are not so good or kind by heart as they are described. hat is condition of Laterin in our India is directly showing in movie.

  Example: Danny Boyle  represent real India in movie but Indian Director dint represent real India. But Danny Boyle represent of British people are good in movie.it is not perfect  when British visit to India that time Jamal Guide of British. Jamal brother and friend steal car of British so Indian driver to hit of Jamal so British save of Jamal and British say of Jamal. You steal car . However  we gave money. 

•  Compare with Texture and Treatment of subject content in film and novel.

 About treatment and texture there are same context like : poverty,issue of family, politics, power of money, slavery, corruption, scene of murder and Education. Here I say that I much like Movie's Texture and treatment because there was a deep thinking and it covers education. Whatever happens with Jamal but he never goes on bad way ,in the sense with knowledge and observations he taught alot.
